Web Applications For Unions » Grievance Management
Our first application is GrievanceWare. It is a Grievance management application designed to manage the grievance process from Complaint thru Arbitration. It is:
Web-Based: A web-based system means that a software application can be accessed through an Internet browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, Netscape). Many people are already Internet users and have used a browser, which directly affects the learning curve. GrievanceWare was created with the users in mind and is comprised of easy-to-use forms, buttons and dropdowns. All of the thinking is done in the background.
Search Friendly: Users have the ability to conduct quick searches to find information on grievances, employers, collective agreements and members among all other stored information.
Auto-Email Notification: Local Executive, Union representatives and employers representatives can be automatically notified by email regarding approaching due dates and step changes.
Supporting Document Management: Documents, files, and images can be uploaded and shared as a part of correspondence and meeting information. Documents can be shared with the employer or maintained in a private repository. In both cases the system provides a centralized database of all documentation.
Permissions and Accesses: GrievanceWare provides three main views of the Grievance data be collected, Local View (master view), Employer View (specific to grievance), Union Rep View (summarizing Grievances going to Grievance Committee). Union Locals, as Masters of their data will manage all access to the system, providing access to there Stewards, and if they choose providing restricted access to the Employer and the Union Rep where required.
Grievance Costs and Expenses: You can allocate costs and expenses to any individual Grievance. The costs and expenses can be categorized, and then reports can be generated show costs by grievance, costs by category and costs by collective agreement
Reports: GrievanceWare reports in list and Spreadsheet (Excel CSV) formats. Locals and employers can extract customized reports based on submitted criteria.

Collective Agreement Engine: LabourWare has developed an automated process for putting your Collective Agreements online. Once in the system can refer to Articles and or Clauses at the Claim stage of the Grievance. Grievance procedures are drawn from the collective agreement, and then act as business rules for the application. GrievanceWare lists all due dates relevant to the claim, yet allows for modification of any individual grievance.
This system also provides research capabilities, which can help a Union Local with Collective Bargaining, by providing statistical data on the Articles and Clauses which were Grieved the most.
Grievance Committee and Arbitration: Pursuant to following the predetermined grievance steps, the grievance may be settled or may be referred to the grievance committee where a decision on whether or not arbitration will follow. The ability to track both is included. Arbitration information is maintained, complete.
Quick View: Whenever applicable users can quick-view details contained in lists found in search results, home page, even list reports. By simply pointing the mouse to a “list” item, detailed information will pop-up for a quick-view.
For example, once a user has logged in they are brought to their home page which lists their active grievances. The user can point to the grievance list item and the claim information will pop-up without having to go to another page and without opening a new window.
Standard Language Libraries: We have incorporated the ability to reference and use Standard Language Libraries for Claims and Redresses, along with any other custom areas where you would want the language of your grievance to be consistent. These Language Libraries will grow over time, providing Union Reps and Arbitrators with predictable outcomes stemming from the use of consistent of language.
Multilingual: GrievanceWare has been developed from the ground up to multilingual. Users will have the ability to move from one language to another confidently. Our Standard Language Libraries were designed to handle multiple languages - so when for example you switch from English to French - any Claim or Redress created using the Language Libraries will also switch.
Our product and service offerings will continue to grow based on the needs and demands of our clients. We plan on becoming a one stop shop for everything technology related for Local Unions.
